From pre-school through 12th grade girls are encouraged to question and discover and given the space, manipulatives and mentors to guide this. The campus blends the historic New Orleans with state of the art science labs and an innovative technology program that reflects both our past and present.
Each teacher receives in depth training yearly and meets each student where she is to challenge and advance her. Children that struggle receive help while those that are advanced receive work that meets the students need. Teachers also respect the girl's right to be an individual and have individual learning styles. There is not one type of learner and the teachers adapt to the student.
As an alumna I chose McGehee for my daughter but not just based on my wonderful experience here. I chose McGehee for the school it has become. It is tradition combined with the greatest of innovation and the students reap the benefits. McGehee allows each girl to reach their full potential. They go beyond the typical education boundaries and make the girls more complete as a person.
The nurse is amazing. She is always on top of any current health scares and insists on all faculty being CPR and first Aid qualified.
the physical facilities are quite secure and health resources are outstanding.
There can be a club for any interest if a girl has the motivation to organize one.
