The school is continually working to be the best support for kids and families. They do an excellent job to make sure the school is not only a safe environment but one in which all kids can flourish. The guidance staff are stellar. The Head is committed to furthering faculty education to an extraordinary degree, making this an amazing place for faculty. Engaged abd happy faculty leads to engaged and challenged kids.

I never expected a child to say, "I love Ms. XXXX - she's the best." There is a two-way street for expression of learning and appreciation.

The campus is composed on century old and older buildings that were once grand mansions in New Orleans Garden District. They are very charming and create a "home" atmosphere as well as serve functional purposes.

The school is concerned about the progress of each student and has systems in place to ensure no one is left out or falls behind.

The support and encouragement my daughter has received educationally and in her personal growth I can't see happening elsewhere. She is a McGehee Girl, intelligent, compassionate, questioning.

I had no friends at Mcgehee.Thought there was something wrong with me.The school is so small, cliques formed early on based on parents who work there,socialize together (social clubs).Parent's"choose their daughter's friends" early on.New admin.hired from the midwest and northeast.Seemed unaware of southern culture, inexperienced,cold,and indifferent.Academics subpar. Louise S. McGehee School is a good school, However, the school also has some policies that are very confusing and contradictory. For example, the school wants us to advocate for ourselves, but when we do, it is considered disrespectful, and we need a parent to intervene. But when a parent advocates for us, the school says that the parent is wrong and it should be the student advocating for themselves. I was a student at this school. Lower school was mostly good, but middle school was not. I was very stressed with academics being unorganized. The teachers and the middle school head interacted with me in a shaming way. They say they pay a lot of attention to their students and this is true but the attention they pay can be too much and not positive. The kids at this school are like a bad "highschool" movie. I would not recommend this school. The teachers and administration are inexperienced. Best practices are not used and their seems to be a basic understanding of child-hood development. They struggle in building relationships with parents.
