About this business

RecreationTours

Hawaii Shark Encounters gives you the opportunity to experience the thrill of meeting sharks face to face in the pristine waters of Oahu. We take you three miles offshore, where you can observe Galapagos and Sandbar sharks in their natural environment from the safety of a floating cage. No scuba experience is necessary -- you enter the cage from above and stay on the surface using a mask and snorkel. Large polyglass windows let you peer into the open ocean and watch the sharks as they glide gracefully through the deep blue. ... read more

Hawaii Shark Encounters is a must-do if you're in Oahu!!! I had transportation from Waikiki to the site, and Rex was my driver. He was wonderful! Professional, kind, and a pleasure to speak with. Once we got there, I waited about ten minutes for the crew to get back in and take a little break before going on board. Chris was amazing! He was super entertaining and social. The captain was great too, I sadly forget his name. The ride out was a bit rough, but nobody can control the weather conditions so it wasn't anyone's fa... read more

We had a great time! We were rescheduled for a few days later due to weather, but it was no problem for us. (Honestly, when we got out to the cage and saw hiw choopy the water was on a goid day, we were glad for it) We saw some impressive galapagos sharks that came right up to the cage and the guide took our Gopros and filmed the sharks off the back of the boat for some extra close up footage. Will definitely book again should we be back in the area!

This is now at the top of my lifetime experiences (outside of our wedding and giving birth)! The sharks are beautiful to watch; they are surprisingly docile and inquisitive. It was actually calming after I got used to snorkeling. You're also in a cage that keeps you at a safe distance from the sharks! If you decide to bring a camera to take pictures/video under water, make sure it is well-secured/tethered because the cage can bounce a lot; holding onto the cage and taking pictures at the same time could easily result in a lo... read more

This was our first activity when we arrived to Hawaii! My family and I had an amazing experience! The staff was fun, friendly and knowledgeable about the sharks that we had seen on our adventure! We had a blast and we wanted to go again. We had enough time to swim in the cage and watch the sharks eat, we had a group of 4 and we were able to have the cage to ourselves. We also saw the sharks on the top of the water and they know the boat when you arrive to the cage, so they all start to swim around the boat and you can see th... read more

Went for the first time today and had a blast! Truly amazing! It was such an educational trip too. I learned a lot today. And the sharks and barracuda gave us quite a show! If you have a chance to do this. Don't even hesitate.

Really enjoyed this experience. The two guys who lead the tour really knew a lot about the sharks and it was very educational. We were able to see two sharks and they came right up to the cage. They are very beautiful creatures and being able to see them that close was amazing. Only suggestion I have is putting less people in the cage, got knocked around a bit because everyone was trying to see them come up in the same area. But I understand the time constraint with getting everyone ample time in the cage. overall awesome ex... read more
